During this week’s Friday prayers held at Qom’s Holy Shrine of Lady Fatimah al-Ma’sumah, Hujjat al-Islam Sayyed Mohammad Sa’idi told the believers gathered about this week’s pressing issues – including the P5+1 negotiations and the Takfiri phenomenon.
Regarding Iran’s ongoing negotiations with the P5+1 group of countries in regard to its disputed peaceful nuclear program, Hujjat al-Islam Sa’idi stated that “we do not know the final outcome of these negotiations will be.”
His Eminence added: “But we do know that several times, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution [Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei] said that he is not optimistic about the negotiations.”
“[The negotiations ] will not lead anywhere, but I am not opposed either,” Ayatollah Khamenei is reported to have stated publically several times.
Hujjat al-Islam Sa’idi stated that the Iranian negotiating team knows that they must negotiate from within the guidelines presented by Ayatollah Khamenei – those of the system of Wilayat al-Faqih (Guardianship of the Jurisprudent) and also stated the people will not accept anything to the contrary.
“Our nation is an nation who’s culture is derived from Ashura. The culture of the slogan of ‘we will never be humiliated’ is articulated by Iran’s people and all of the unbelievers and the arrogant of the world must know that they can never humiliate this nation,” he explained.
Regarding the vote of no confidence in the Islamic Consultative Assembly [Iranian Parliament] regarding the proposed Minster of Science, Research and Technology, Fakhroddin Ahmadi-Danesh-Ashtiani, Hujjat al-Islam Sa’idi stated that the suitable candidates should be limited to those who are known in the country.
In regard to the Takfiri threat, Hujjat al-Islam Sa’idi stated: “The Takfiri issue is a danger to the Islamic world and even to the entire world. All of their actions are to show a harsh face of Islam to the world. For this reason a group of scholars have decided to hold a conference [The World Congress on Extremist and Takfiri Movements in the View of Islamic Scholars].”
“The aim of this conference is for scholars to gather and explain that Takfirism is foreign to Islam so that that the enemies cannot have the excuse to connect Takfirism to Islam and violence. Islam is a religion of compassion and love and we are even commanded to be kind to non-Muslims,” the renowned scholar stated.
The Friday prayer leader of Qom stressed that some young people throughout the Muslim world have been deceived and imagine the path of terror is a way to heaven. “This conference will prove that terrorism is the path to hell. We will also discuss how to refute the dangerous Takfiri ideology and discover the roots of their belief system and their thought,” Hujjat al-Islam Sa’idi stated.
